When people ask me how I came into this profession, I can merely say that I have been an artist, all of my life. I grew up with parents who raised me in the arts; with music and painting being their contributions to my DNA. While I studied to be a watercolorist/illustrator in art college, my real love was always fiber, from the time that I could hold an embroidery needle and colorful floss as a 7 year old.
This over four decade career has come about through my many years of being a knitwear designer, spinner and dyer, creating one-off wearable art and a line of soft cotton garments, at one point. I now focus solely on dyeing mill spun yarns and fabulously decadent luxury handspun yarns, for discerning collectors.
I am the co-author of the book “10 Secrets of the Laidback Knitters” and have had yarn featured in myriad designs and books by other designers, over the years and keep current with new designers through Twist Collective and Knitty.
The latest piece of the puzzle is my wholesale luxury fibers business, Weaver Creek Fibers, with which I use my decades of spinning expertise to have amazing fiber blends created for myself, other professional fiber artists and retail fiber shops.
